Rome! Part 2: Travel lessons we should have learned by now (always have your passport) and stumbling on the Pantheon
After lunch, we visited some other nearby monuments. Visiting the Piazza di Spagna totally gave us a flashback to basking in the sun at Montmartre:
We decided to check out the Vatican, but the English and Americans realized that we didn’t have our passports with us. Our hotel was on the other side of town, so we took the metro there, rushed to get our passports, and took the metro back hoping that we’d be able to catch up with the others.
Turns out the line to get into the Vatican was a couple of hours long:
We decided to hang around for a while and check out some awesome Pope postcards before taking the metro for a third time back to the hotel for a well-deserved nap:
I wanted to check out the Pantheon, so we took a long walk back into town and came across this building, which we thought might be it:
My friend said we were probably at the back, so we wandered around trying to find the front of the building. Everyone was hungry and tired of walking, so we gave up and then we turned a corner and stumbled upon the real thing:
We then went over to Piazza Navona, which had three fountains in a row and was gorgeous at night:
I got to try out my first cannelloni and some fantastic gelato. So definitely a fantastic trip and would love to go back again (and will definitely be keeping my passport close)!
