Eco + Veg | International Inspiration: Repair Cafe

March 2, 2015UncategorizedFrance, TAPIF, Travel Standard

I recently stopped by the Repair Cafe in Lille, France. On the third Tuesday of each month, anyone is welcome to bring broken objects by and volunteers will try to fix them.

It’s an initiative that started a few months back by Le Jardin des Bennes in an effort to reduce the amount of material that gets thrown out. Volunteers work on fixing everything from stick blenders, CD players, stereo systems, electric heaters, and more.

The event is held at the Maison Regionale de l’Environnement et des Solidarites, which also has a resource library with books about the environment, hosts workshops on how to make detergent, has nature walks around the region, and much more.
